The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose PURPOSE is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

Focus for 2009-2012:
UMW groups are to focus on Climate Change for the
quadrennial.We are to generate awareness of the
connection between Biblical faith and care for
creation.
UMW meetings:
The UMW group meets the first Thursday of every
other month at 11:00AM. On December 2nd, we will hold our
next meeting. The location will be at Phyllis McPeak's house.
We will have our Pledge Service. Afterwards, we will go out
to eat. Don't forget to bring your stockings for Shepherd's
Arms.
Mission help needed:
*Bring us your can soup labels for the RedBird Mission.
*We need some "thinking of you cards" to send to others.
*We are asking everyone to recycle your used cards such as:
Birthday, Valentine's, Christmas, Thank You, etc. to help
St. Jude Children's Hospital. Cut off the front page of
the card and give it to Carol Drinnon.The only
stipulation is that the front of the card cannot have
writing on it. The UMW would appreciate your support.

Upcoming Events:
*February 9th - The UMW will be hosting a Valentine's Party for the children in the Shepherd's Arms program. The party is at 4:00pm.
*February 20th - Officer Training sessions at Christ UMC at 10:00am and Mission Team Training sessions at Tyner UMC at 10:00am.
*March 20th - District Retreat will be at Camp Lookout.
*April 1st - The UMW will be throwing an Umbrella Party to help Shepherd's Arms. Bring an umbrella or two to the meeting.
*April 29th - May 2nd: UMW Assembly in St. Louis, MO.
*May 14th - May 16th: Spiritual Enrichment
*July 22th - July 24th: School of Christian Missions, Colonial Heights UMC in Kingsport, TN
*August 21st: Social Action Workshop in Knoxville, TN
*September 18th-19th: UMW Annual Conference at Lake Junalusska
*October 28th: Chattanooga District meeting at St. John's UMC. Please bring Health Kits or money for Health Kits ($12 each) to the District meeting. The time of the meeting is 5:30PM.
*October 31st-November 5th: Chattanooga Mission Trip to Sager-Brown Warehouse
