Memories Burned up in Devastating St. Elmo UMC Fire.
|
On August 23, 2009, the St. Elmo UMC was destroyed by an electrical fire that started in the attic. The beautiful historical church building that was established in 1921 is no longer. Church members cried as we watched our memories go up in flames. The impact of the fire has left us homeless without a church building to hold our services. We are broken-hearted but our spiritual fire of hope remains. We would like to thank the St. Elmo Seventh Day Adventist Church and the Lookout Mountain UMC for opening their church up to us, so that we can continue worshiping God on Sundays and Wednesdays. We would also like to thank Thankful Episcopal Church for giving us office space. The community has been the hands and feet of Christ for us through this affair. Continue praying for us as we push forward in our ministry to show the community that God loves people.
